If you blinked, you may have missed this. The most recent commercial for the Kia Soul shows several variations of the compact crossover alongside an international cast of singers, actors, dancers, musicians, and hamsters. Partway through the ad, a title card flashes on the screen that promises a turbocharged version of the Kia Soul this winter. For the customers we serve in New Haven and Bristol, CT, as well as the staff here at Executive Kia — all of whom have been waiting for a Kia Soul Turbo since it was first rumored back in 2014 — this is welcome news indeed.

It also suggests that the 2017 model year is going to be a big one for the Kia Soul. The 2017 Kia Soul is getting a late-cycle refresh that is likely to bring changes — some in style, and some in substance — to the model. The Kia Soul Turbo is reported to be receiving the same 200 horsepower engine that’s found in the Kia Forte Koup, and will also be getting updated brakes and suspension to better complement the higher horsepower.

The new Kia Soul will probably debut later this year. We’ll have more specifications to share when that happens, and we hope to have a better idea of the release date at about the same time. It’s an exciting time for us at Executive Kia, since the refreshed 2017 Kia Soul will take its place alongside the all-new 2017 Kia Sportage, the reliable 2017 Kia Sorento SUV, and the other new arrivals soon to come.
